Questions for buyers and builders

Does the EU AI Act apply to my AI system?
It can apply even if your company is outside the EU. Article 2(1) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 lists who it applies to. It includes “providers placing on the market or putting into service AI systems or placing on the market general-purpose AI models in the Union, irrespective of whether those providers are established or located within the Union or in a third country”, and providers and deployers outside the EU “where the output produced by the AI system is used in the Union”. Article 2 also sets out cases the Regulation does not cover. Which duties follow depends on your role and on what the system is used for. The free readiness check asks those questions and cites the basis for each answer.
When does Article 50 apply, and what does it require?
Article 50 sets transparency duties, with exceptions stated in the Article itself. Among them, providers must design systems meant to interact directly with people so that those people “are informed that they are interacting with an AI system”, and providers of systems that generate synthetic content must make sure the outputs are “marked in a machine-readable format and detectable as artificially generated or manipulated”. Dates: the transparency duties have applied since 2 August 2026 (Article 113 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689). For providers of systems that generate synthetic content and were placed on the market before that date, the Article 50(2) marking duty applies from 2 December 2026 (Article 111(4), added by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, Article 1, point (39)(b)).
Did the Digital Omnibus move the EU AI Act dates?
It moved some and added others. Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 moved high-risk duties for systems in the Annex III use areas from 2 August 2026 to 2 December 2027, and high-risk duties for AI inside Annex I regulated products from 2 August 2027 to 2 August 2028. It also added dates of its own, including 2 December 2026 for the newly added banned practices. The EU AI Act dates page lists every obligation group with the provision its date comes from.
How do I do due diligence on an AI vendor?
Start from what the law asks of you. If the vendor will process personal data for you, Article 28(1) of the GDPR says “the controller shall use only processors providing sufficient guarantees to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures”. Perissos reads what a vendor publishes about its AI from the vendor's own site, quoted and dated, never scored.
What is Perissos, and is it an auditor or a certifier?
Perissos is for companies that build or use AI and sell into the EU or US, where a buyer's review can take 8 to 16 weeks and procurement asks hard, cited questions. We help you reach audit readiness and produce the cited proof your buyers ask for. We don't certify or audit you. That's the job of accredited auditors and CPA firms.
